This is a great option if you’re looking for a camera to take to the beach on your next vacation or if you need a camera that will survive a rafting trip. The Kodak Easyshare Sport C123 is a rugged and easy to use waterproof/weather proof camera. The Easyshare sport c123 doesn’t have a lot of features, but what it does it does well, taking simple photos in harsh environments that would kill many other digital cameras and all for a low low price.
The camera is waterproof up to a depth of 10 feet. That’s deep enough for the beach or most pools (as long as you stay out of the deep end). The waterproof casing makes the Easyshare Sport C123 more rugged than many other digital cameras, protecting it from dust, sand, and getting bumped around.
Kodak Easyshare Sport C123 Features
When your done shooting photos you can switch over and capture the action with it’s video recording capabilities. It shoots video at 640×480 at 30 fps. This is a step below high definition video, but is great for online viewing, making it great for sharing the action with your friends and family on Youtube or Facebook. Oh yeah, the video camera, it’s waterproof too.
It can take images up to 12 mega pixels but with only 32 megs of internal storage isn’t going to hold too many pictures. It supports both SD and SDHC cards for additional storage. Of course, as the name implies that camera includes Kodak’s proprietary share button, allowing you to easy share your photos with your friends and family online.
The Kodak Easyshare Sport C123 has simple to use controls, making it a great camera for the kids. It has a simple toggle that transitions it between still photos and movies. The on off switch is conveniently located out of the way on the bottom of the camera. The primary controls are located on the back and can be easily operated with one thumb. The camera boast a decent sized lcd view screen that can be used as a view finder or for picture review.
Kodak Easyshare Sport – The bad
One of the drawbacks I saw with this camera is it’s lack of zoom. It has zero optical zoom so no zooming in on the action when you’re taking your pictures. Also, the picture quality is on the low side which is to be expected with a camera at this price point. When shooting you’ll also need to make sure you’re holding the camera still. It lacks any type of image stabilization which can lead to blurry pictures, remaining stationary while shooting is a must. If you’re looking for a higher quality camera with more features I would suggest taking a look at the Nikon AW100 review.
Kodak Easy Share Sport C123 conclusion
Despite it’s shortcomings I like the Easyshare Sport C123 for what it is. It makes for an ideal camera for the kids, beach, camping trips, etc. It’s great for any situation that you want a digital camera, but don’t want to have to worry about your digital camera.
